While the fishies are in qt for black spot on yellow tang, I took advantage and removed the cc from the tank and added 3"DSB. Since the cc is gone, does that mean that I can reduce the fallow period? All the fish are doing great - eating well and no more spots. I know they have 3 more weeks at hyposalinity, but is 6 weeks still necessary to leave the tank fishless?

Any help will do.

I personally wouldn't chance it. Especially if the is LR in the tank. Those nasties can be anywhere in tank, not just the substrate....the glass, seals, filters, tubing....wherever. HTH.

I would not chance it either. Keep in mind, you may experience a small cycle with the new substrate. Use the six or eight week fallow period to recycle the tank.
