new marine tank with a picasso trigger

Hi everyone- I'm starting a new 75g tank and hope to stock it with a picasso trigger. The tank will have lots of live rock and sand, and a protein skimmer, with a canister filter. I have heard that just going with a protein skimmer, lr and ls and no additional filtration is ok- is this true? BTW, what are good tankmates for my picasso trigger (i'm thinking a volitan lion).

nothing with nice finnage is a good choice with a trigger. They tend to nip fins. As to your question on the canister filter, if you have enough rock, the filter is not needed.
