New to SW

Hello,

I have a 55 gallon FW tank and I saw that Petco has a deal where it's a dollar a gallon for a tank and I was thinking of getting the 55 gallon to build a SW. The only thing is I don't know what I'm getting into. If you could please give me some information on how to be successful with the tank and also some fish suggestions would be great. Also some pics of your tank to get some ideas on what I can do with the setup.

50 lb live sand 45+ lb live rock in a 55 a canister filter hob skimmer . Let the tank cycle till ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 40 I below then 50% water change. This is my 20 long
