Nitrites?

14 week old 55gal.... 60lbs LR, 30lbs LS, 10 Gal W/D Sump, Eco-System 40 refugium..., Protien Skimmer, UV Sterilizer, Coralife 260watt PC white/actinic, Magnum 350 particle filter (no carbon).... Livestock = approx 5 green mushrooms, approx 6 sqin of star polyps, 2 damsels, 1 maroon clown, 1 yellow eyed tang, 2 large turbo snails, 5 hermits, variu\ous and sundry amps and copes....

I am having a constant low levels Nitrite content, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates... Any Idea what may be causing this?

How much are you feeding per day?

Have you tested your water source for nitrite?

Feeding 1 pinch twice daily small pellets, cube of frozen brine 3 times weekly.... Water is RO/DI, I have a filter...... Did another 20% water change today... I will continue to change 20% daily until levels are acceptable..

Check you freshly made up saltwater...if it tests positive for nitrites then you may have a bum kit...the reagents do go bad over time. Also, make sure everything that should be there IS there. Maybe something passed away and is causing a small spike.
