I went out to a couple of garge sales today and picked up a 20 gla long and a 10 gal for $10 (for the pair). Now Give me some ideas of what to do with them if you all would be so kind. I thought about making a wet/dry out of the 20 and a fuge out of the 10. Would this work for a 75 gal?

Also how would I "combine" the two? I thought about having a hole drilled in the side of the 10 for plumbing and a small pump sending the water into the 20 return section.

Here's a VERY CRUDE drawing of my idea.

Have the main tank drain into the 20 and then have a pump in the 20 to supply the 10. The 10 then needs to gravity feed back to the 20. Don't put the main pump return in the 10. Won't work.

Otherwise it will be fine. I ran a similar setup for my 75. 75 to a 25 gal sump. Maxijet 1200 pumped from the sump to a 25 gal fuge. The fuge was raised and it drained back into the sump. I could turn the main pump off an still leave the sump/fuge pump running.
