Overflow vs canister,power filter

Is there anyway to build a sump or wet dry kinda filter without a over flow? Maybe a dumb question

You can drill your tank to avoid an overflow.

I like the overflow idea though.. My freshwater tank has one and it is almost what i think is the best kinda filtration.. Stick your skimmer and UV sterilizer down there..i was thinkng i could make a sump kinfa thing and maybe use a bumch of pipe and tube as a nother intake out take with my fluval 405 becouse further on in my tank i plan on hosting a angel and a tang and both are ich gactories
