I have a 125 gal glass tank which is going to be saltwater. I plan to make a dual overflow out of pvc pipe. One inch pipe to a 1.25 inch center pipe to the sump. My question is this. Can i use 1 inch pipe for a return to the tank? Or could i use two 3/4 inch pipes for the overflows? And 1 inch return? I would like to achieve around 600 gph turn over.

Using the following input parameters

Gallons per Hour = 600
Drain and Overflow sizes are calculated as

Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 1.01 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 9 inches
I would use two 1in ID. for the over flow (in case one plugs) The return pump will set your turnover rate. You'll need to calculate the head loss of the pump to get your turnover Im running two 1in ID drains and my return is a mag7 with 5ft of head loss witch flows 387 ghp through my sump

Thanks Grizz.
That helps. At least i know where to start.:)
