proflex model 3 sump/refugium question

i have this refugium, only problem is that the skimmer is that the only room for the skimmer to go into is the 3rd chamber( the lasst one). so iwas wondering if i could put my mag 7 in the first chamber to feed the skimmer in the last.

Now by doing this, would i completely bypass my 2nd chamber which is where the refugium is?

You would be losing pretty much everything you are wanting to gain. I don't even think a mag 7 would fit into the first chamber with the bubble tube coming down as far as it does.

Would it work if I put the water that comes out of the gate valve back into the refugium?

No, youd need to reverse the setup to do what you said. If i were you id just get a cheap tank and build a sump that will fit your needs. I did mine for under 60 bucks to replace my aqueon.
