i'm new with saltwater aquariums, but i decided to get a protein skimmer since i've read that i'd help alot. Most of them, however, are for larger tanks like 100Gallons+. Is there a good kind of protein skimmer for 40gallon tank?

I've seen this brand mentioned a lot here:
Reef Octopus BH 100 Hang on Back Protein Skimmer
It's rated for tanks up to 90 gallons.

Get the best you can buy and get one that's rated for over you tanks capacity,.... Like what "track fast " said if you have a 40 gal tank then get a protein skimmer rated for 75-100 gallons,....amazing devices!

i was planning on getting Coral life super skimmer65, any thoughts on that?

I'm vigilant about PWCs so i don't use protein skimmers but I do read about them. As far as I know, you should stay away from Coralife and Sea Clone skimmers. I've never read great things about them. I think Reef Octopus would be the way to go. And no, I don't work for them. lol
