Puffer fish

I am just getting started with a 55 gal tank. I want to eventually buy a puffer. My boyfriend wants to have crabs. I know puffers will eat invertibrates, but I am wondering if it would nibble on crabs?

It really depends on what kind of puffer you have. I've never kept any of the true SW puffers. I do have a Green Spotted Puffer in a SW tank with hermit crabs and he hasn't ever bothered them. Of course, he might eat them all tonight...it's a chancy thing.

Thanks for the advice. I want a porcuine puffer, I think they are so cute. I will tell my boyfriend he can buy the crab, but puffer might eat them.
