Having learned my lesson the hard way, I would like to start using a quarantine tank for any new fish purchases. I've read the very helpful "ounce of prevention" article and the only thing I'm still not clear on is water changes - how often, and how much (%). I'm talking about one fish at a time, in a 10G bare bottom tank, with a cycled sponge filter. Thank you!

It will really depend on how high your ammonia and nitrite get. If they start to rise you`ll need to do frequent PWC`s to keep them down low.

Yup... agree with melosu58. If your cycled sponge filter is enough to keep up with your bioload, then you shouldn't see any ammonia/nitrites and you can just do 10-20% weekly... or whatever you want to keep your nitrates wherever you want them.
