?Question about lighting for fish olny & or eel tank?

I have an eel that i want to move into its own tank and maybe have it with a few fish. Do fish only tanks have a minimum lightin requirement or not?

I know when i see fish at the lfs's sometimes they have no lights!

Most fish (perhaps all?) couldn't care less about lights. If they are kept in pitch blackness it may be a problem, but ambient room lighting is fine and dandy.

The lights are for us and any photosynthetic organisms.
