Hey, I'm new posting to the board however I have read several posts. Here is my question. I have a 65 gal reef tank and my live rock is starting to grow red hair algae. I was wondering if this is OK or not. It is not the red slime because I have seen that in other tanks. This is definitely red hair. Any info would be appreciated. I do change the water once a week and had the LFS check the water several times and everything is OK.

Thanks

Red hair algae is said to be a real pain. It can be controlled though, same as the green hair. Even though you are doing water changes weekly, you may have to do them more regular or larger ones til the algae is under control. I found this article on red hair, maybe it will help as well. Good luck.
