Quick cycling question

After adding my live rock my nitrite and nitrate levels went through the roof (highest reading on api tests). Assuming no harm in doing a water change to bring it down a bit? Also, I've been using RO/DI water so didn't see any point in using water conditioner. Should I be adding Prime to my tank to help soften the blow for whatever may have survived on the live rock - or is adding a chemical like this frowned upon in a reef tank? p.s Fishless cycle.

There isn't any need to do a water change during a cycle. Just wait it all out until you have no ammonia and nitrite readings then do water changes to lower the nitrates to 0. You can then add a fish or two. There isn't any reason to use prime or anything else, just sit back and be anxious for your cycle to finish.
