I currently have a one bulb t8 fixture on my new reef tank. I plan on changing this once I am ready for corals, but are there any bulbs that would fit this fixture that could support soft corals? If not I will get another fixture but I would like to know whether or not I could use my current fixture.

What size tank? If it is super shallow it could maybe keep some softies alive.

It is a 40 gallon high tank. I will probably end up getting a new fixture then.

Yeah one t8 isn't gonna cut it for any corals on a tank that high. Look into the eBay 120 watt dimmable leds.

I agree with Bribo get a taotronic dimmable led one should be enough for that tank and you'll be able to keep most anything
