I run my rufugium with some chaeto in. Yet what seems to grow in it more is hair algae. I'm not too worried because it isn't in the main tank I was just wondering if this is okay? Would it be okay go put some snails or crabs back there to keep it in check? Or should I just leave it?

No way. Don't put a single thing that eats algae in the refugium. This is where you want algae (any kind) to grow.

+1 to above.... Manual removal is recommended if you feel they're going sexual. Which Cheato does not
