Return from sump

I have seen tanks plumped several ways. spray bars, returns at the top, and having several returns kind of acting as powerheads coming from under the sand. Was curious if there was any specific reason or benifits for any or if it was all just preference.

Just preference As long as you have surface ripple for good oxygen exchange then it doesn't matter how you do it.

Using Loc-Line with multiple outlets works great.

With a sump surface agitation in the main isn't as important due to the oxygen exchanging from the water falling into the sump so placing outlets lower is fine.

Other reasons for having it lower is for high flow loving corals.

awesome, protein skimmer and sump should provide for adaquite oxygen levels so im probably going to plumb from the bottom, kinda hide some stuff under the sand.

What kind of tank? Glass? If so, you may want to get a professional glass cutter to plumb the bottom.

Some tanks cannot be drilled from the bottom. I would check from the manufacturer to be sure before you drill. Tempered glass will not drill. At least not with the results you are looking for
