RO/DI storage barrel

I recently got a 55 g drum to store RO/DI water in, it was previously used to store engine degreaser. I washed it out until the smell was gone then i filled it with a water vinegar mix and let it sit. My question is is there a way to test the water to determine if it is clean to use?

I've heard that there are labs you can send water samples to, but I am not aware of any test kits that would work in this situation. IMO, I would not use anything to hold water that had any chemicals in it previously. I can't imagine that it would ever be totally free of whatever was in before. I worry like that though .
