Just curious what filter systems you guys would name as top notch for a saltwater set up. ( i am new to SW setups) My tank size is only 30 gallons. thanks for your help.

What type of tank? Fish only, fish only with live rock, or a reef tank?
Generally speaking sump/fuge setups are best for SW if you're doing a reef. If not a reef, sump/fuge is still probably the best system, but you could get away with a canister filter as well if you didn't want to plumb the sump system.

oh a 30 gallon you can even go with a HOB just make sure its large enough for it. look into a 70 gallon rated filter or larger like an aquaclear 70 or 110or a marinlan emperor 400 with bio wheels.
