Skimmer or no skimmer

Can I run a skimmer during the cycle process? Im at 5 nitrite and .25 amonnia in 3rd week.

With no fish a skimmer is not necessary. Some people disagree. I'm still new and did my first cycle without a skimmer. All nitrate, nitrites, ammonia, Ph lvl's are great... I'm not putting a skimmer in until 5 -6 days after putting my first fish in.

Running a skimmer during the cycle is fine however not needed.
