Well, my derasa wasn't looking well since water change day and I was suspecting pinched mantle. Did a freshwater dip, but hasn't opened up today. Concerning, especially since there hasn't been a reason for it. Things don't happen suddenly in this hobby, but it was quick to react and full mantle extended just last week. Only change has been changing out the phosguard.

My poor derasa still isn't looking well. I believe I found the problem when I got home last night. Coral beauty...I walked into my house and watched him nip right in the middle of the clam and it retracted real quick. Not sure what I'll do in reality... I want to remove the CB, but it'll be a death sentence for him as it is my only tank. Which means more, clam or fish... And unsure if we are point of no return with the clam either...

Just a quick note for today, as everything in the tank is doing quite well besides the derasa clam. Just found a sale on Ecotech...thinking about picking up another MP40 so I can get a reeflink for 50% off. Going to sit on it so I don't spend so much money all at once like a kid in a candy store.

What about taking the CB in for credit?

There is barely stores for saltwater, let alone store credit. Maybe at the one non-chain, but it is up in the air if they do it or not. I'm going to take the derasa out again today to see how it looks...don't want to do another freshwater dip and stress him further.

Quick update, I ended up ordering some more GFO and the MP40 and reeflink...
I also called my 'LFS' again to see if they would give credit, as I now remember the new ownership and waiting on them to get back to me. I sit here waiting for their saltwater guy to call me back, as he was selling a turtle when I called. If he's smart, he'll call back so I can talk about the mother green tip bird's nest and the coral beauty...

Good idea. So was it the CB and the wrasse that were causing problems?

Just the coral beauty. There currently are no wrasses in the tank. Not sure if it was the cause or if just an opportunity at a sick clam. Time will tell.

Well, before I left for work the clam was extending the mantle some. That is good, but far from out of the woods. There is a spot that showed up that concerns me and is making me believe I'm too late.

Sniperhank's UPGRADED 55 gal Build

EDITED: Since there are no other clams. I can't see the Coral beauty, is it gone?

There has been only one clam for awhile now. So, that isn't it!

Ok. Well, the water in this tank is officially being pushed through TWO mp40's. The new one just came in the mail today. Just waiting on the reeflink to arrive...exciting news.

Exciting, extremely. Would I have ever noticed it? Not in an eternity.

Yeah. Wife lives in the house and didn't notice either.
It is amazing though. Have both set low and have better flow than before. Replaced 3 koralias. Now just need the reef link.
