I'm starting my first tank, and wanted to know what is best to start the cycle?

so you got all your equipment ready or you still shopping

Sorry for the delay in responding again but i asked how big your tank was so i could respond with how much ammonia you'd need to dose with. After you responded i was really tired and was like hmm why did i ask how big the tank was???

There are some instructions on figuring how much ammonia to dose there depending on how much water you add (amt of lr/br and sand will determine how much space is left for water) and strength of ammonia solution. If its something youre interested in using and have a question i promose to respond faster next time...

thats my thread! I like the ammonia dosing method for cycling best. I was using the raw shrimp method and ended up adding too much shrimp thus creating a medium level ammonia and an off the charts level of nitrite. Dosing ammonia will help you maintain control over how high your levels are during cycling
