stinky fishless cycle

I knew rotting shrimp in my tank would be smelly, but it's stinking up the whole house! How long can I expect this to go on? Is there anything I can do to make it less smelly?

How much shrimp did u use? How long has it been in there? What is the amm reading.

when i did the shrimp method on my tank the whole room stink lasted no more than 48 hours. my ammonia went up to 2 and then started to drop back down. i used one medium sized shrimp (2 inches long or so).
