I have started several threads over the last few months on different topics. Now I need some advice.

Currently I have a 110 g tank(48"x18"x30"),Fluval FX5 canister filter, 2-K4's and 2-Aqua Clear 50's and Sea-clone 150 protein skimmer and turbo twist UV sterilizer.

I have taken most everyones advice that I need to go to a sump/ref instead of the canister. So what I would like to know from experienced hobbyists is what should I be looking for in new equipment that is not going to break the bank. The are so many opinions on what I sould do I am very confused.

Thanks for your help

IMO
1) Used tank and acrylic pieces from Lowes/HD/some other provider.. Make your own sump
2) Octopus skimmer (prob 150)
3) Mag-whatever return pump (probably 9.5)
4) HOB overflow box w/ 1" drain

Look on Craigslist, ReefCentral (if you have the proper post count :) ), etc for used equipment.

BTW: Nothing wrong with running that canister toooo
