I plan on doing my conversion to a 20 gallon long for my reef soon. The 29 is just not working and the algae just cant be stopped. Im going to try from scratch with a smaller footprint and a sump.

What a decent size sump to build for a 20 long? I cant go to huge,I was hoping 10 or even a 5 I have lying around would be sufficient.

If thats not worth it then Ill prob just drop reef all together, call it a wash and sell off my stuff.

Added water volume is always a good thing. I have no problem with the 10. The only issue is you wont be able to put much fish in the 20. Your choices will be limited.

My choices are limited now. My only fish would be what I have. 2 small clowns, orchid Dotty and a gold chromis. I have a cardinal I'll prob dump. Im looking for it to be mostly Coral and inverts now.

I'd reduce my rock load in the main tank for extra swim space as well.
