Good idea on the hirocks.com. I just checked out the web site. I will probably go with that idea. thanks.

Not to down Hirocks, but just a little personal experience, FWIW. I've ordered from them - some smaller stuff for frags. The pieces I received were actually large (no big deal). However, this rock is very dense and heavy, and not very porous at all. I'd think you could use it for a few pieces, but I wouldn't use it for more than say, 10% - 20% of the rock in a reef tank.

I ordered 2 large boxes and liked what I got. There were one or two pieces that were not porous, the rest was riddled with holes, large and small.

Really, well I may order the smaller 30lb box for my 55 gal & if I like what I get I'll just order more. I'll probably call to place my order anyways & ask about their porosity.
