Wow, I did not intend to start a full blown debate on the $1000 per 25 gallons of tank suggestion. It was just my personal expereice when I started pricing out all the dry goods (equipment), rock, substarte, plumbing, salt, suppliments, etc.

I have nearly $2500 invested in my 58 gallon tank, minus live stock. And I purchased all of my equipment online, rock online, etc.

It was just a rough estimate. Of course you can do it for less, but I believe you get what you pay for. DIY will save you money, buying used equipment will as well. But there are some places in this hobby it's just not worth trying to save a few bucks. It's an expensive hobby.

I know it can be done for less than $1000 per 25 gallons of tank, but I believe if a poll was taken the average setup/start up costs would be around $1000 per 25 gallons.
