Hi all,

I have a 16g nano that I will be converting from FOWLS to a reef tank this summer, and I'm thinking of using an extra 10 gallon tank I have and turning it into a refugium. Has anyone had any experience with this? And is there any reason it would not be good to have a refugium this size on my small tank?

No the More water the better and it is just like a sump. I just made a ten gallon sump today. I could take some pics if you want

That would be great! I have found some other threads online where others have done the same thing, and I plan on learning from their experiences as much as I can before I do anything myself. Ad the "more water the better" idea is what made me think of this project in the first place, so I'm happy to hear that backed up by other people, too. I really want a good place to grow a population of critters for my fish to eat, and to add stability to my nano.

here is mine. the things I would have done different are...
made slots instead of holes (l_l_l_l like that)
got a bigger tank
made bigger refugium
and i wish i didnt crack it

These are the things i like..
different slots for organization
made the middle the refugium/ autotop off/ skimmer
and the order it goes in
