HI all,

I currently have a 27 gallon marine tank with a cleaner shrimp, percula clown, and yellow tang. I am thinking of transitioning to a reef tank.

If I buy a new tank that is reef ready (I don't want to drill a hole in glass for sump), can I add the new sand and some of the cc from the old tank in nylon, and some LR, along with most of the water from the old tank, will my fish survive?

Also does sand need any treatment before adding to a tank? Some sort of acclimation process?

Thanks in advance

Tom

I would first add new sand, then add some sand from the 27, then add all your new LR that you're going to put in there. Let it cycle. Then add LR from your 27 if you want. Match temp and salinity with 27 and move the fish.
