Actually the sun coral is a NPS and doesn't require light, and usually prefer shady locations, the do like some decent flow though so that may be the issue. You may also want to try the 2l bottle trick and feed it some small meaty food.

I turned all the flow off a little bit ago and used some flake/frozen mysis mush in a syringe to feed it. Must of worked because it finally opened up. The guy that owns the lfs I went to threw it in for me driving so far and spending a bit of money.
My favorite pieces by far are the frogspawn and ric.

Sun corals are a P.I.T.A! Beautiful but require a lot of food.

I saw that . Take a clean 2L bottle and cut the top 4-6" off and place it over the sun coral and use a turkey baster or similar to inject the food slowly into the bottle top. The polyps should start to come out and display a feeding reaction, easiest way to feed only it and not add excess nutrients to the system.

Is that algae that's growing around it? If it was pox it would be affecting the whole colony.

I think it is an algae or a type of fungus. Did a melafix dip last night and whatever is in there started coming out...

No luck with the mauls. One has melted the other barely opens. Blue Eyed monsters are looking cleaner but still not opened. Frogspawn does well until wc then it lets go of its polyps..I may not be cut out for this lol
