What did you put between your aquarium and your stand?

I made my stand myself, my first construction project. I was worried about slight differences in hieight of the support beams. As a solution to my worries, I bought a sheet of styrofoam, .5" thick, from Lowe's and cut it to my tand length x width. i placed the tank ontop of this styrofoam sheet, ontop of my stand.

Anyone else use something similar? Or is this a bad idea? any thoughts?

I have used styrofoam and I have used soft rubber mats I think the syrofoam is fine

I found a rubber/foam padded shelf liner at Wal-Mart, I can't remember the brand name but it looks and feels like a mouse pad and it comes in a 1 foot x 4 foot roll.
