I have finally got my nitrates to zero, and they have stayed for about two weeks now. I have been adding a buffer for the past three days and my pH is now at 8.0-8.2. It's been up and running for about two years now and everything finally seems to be stable. I have some sps, some lps and a few softies. All are doing great.

So it may sound stupid, but what should I do now? I want to maintain my parameters and work my water to perfection. Is time pretty much my only answer?

what other parameters are out of whack? i would figure out why your ph is somewhat low and correct that instead of using buffers.
also, stability is the key to a successful reef.
i have found that unless you have a tank packed with sps and clams, you can maintain a healthy reef with just weekly 20-25% water changes.
just use a reef grade salt.

What are you using to measure your pH, liquid test kit or meter?
Are you testing at the same time of day every time you test?

What are your other water parameters?
Alk, Ca, Mg, temp?
How often and how large are your PWC's?

As Doug stated, a weekly PWC is usually all that's needed to maintain water parameters.
