whats this brown stuff?

Yeah thats right, on my rock and spreading accross sand.
I put the live rock in 1wk ago today with a couple of fish and inverts.

Also some kind of white slime?

Sounds like you have Diatoms.... Snails and red and blue leg hermits love it...

sorry for the s word I should have used poo. Having twins, i am always up to my elbows in it and it definitely matches the color in my tank.

Also do water changes with Ro/di water.. This help mine alot.

BTW what I believe they were asking for is salinity, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, po4, CA, Ect.. Basically the results of your testing...

um i will check and get back to you on the nitrite and amonia

But in the meen time my nitrates were around 10(ppm?) two days ago.

Salinity is 1.024
ph is right on as is alk

ca well i dont have a test for that but there are no coral in my tank as of yet and i have not had a bloom of calcareous alga yet. so i havent been to concerned with ca, especialy with the very good alk.

this brown stuff ( baby poo in color[an orangey yellowy brown]) is starting to cover every thing. I did notice that some hermit crabs were going to town in a section that quickly be came devoid of any trace but was "grown" over in 48hrs after the crabs left.

Are they diatoms?

My biggest concern is SHOULD I BE CONCERNED.
and if so what do i do?

I was thinking of getting more hermit crabs?
I only 5 or 6 as of yet

Like Timbo2 stated it probably Just Diatoms.. Nothing to be too concerned about.. He also stated that Red And Blue legged hermits eats them..

fyi my nitrites are spiking really high were as my ammonia is non existant.

seems like everythings really kicking in?
