I'm switching from a fw tank to a sw tank. Can I reuse my lava rock and coarse gravel? Also, do I need to clean/replace my bio balls?

Thanks all.

Lava rock doesn't respond as well as some other rocks to coraline algae. I wouldn't use coarse gravel in a saltwater aquarium as it isn't good for various species that live in or on top of the substrate. What would you be using the bio-balls for? Are you thinking of setting up a sump?

I have a wet/dry with bio balls. Are they appropriate for saltwater? Do I need to clean them before reuse?

I would clean the wet/dry and replace all of the filter pads with new ones. You can use the bioballs for SW but it is a better option to get ride of them and replace them LR or LR rubble instead. It is a much better filter media for SW.
Welcome to AA!!! :D :D :D

You can se your freshwater stuff for salt water my pizza place has one...but it doesnt have any coralline growth in it as someone stated earlier.
