Thinking of putting sand in my tank what type is best ? And putting in plants?

I reckon it's down to which sand you like the best to be honest. There seems to be a lot out there, including coral, black, white etc. IMHO sand looks cool, but makes planting a little harder. Just getting a tank together myself and have gone for sand, with all the plants growing on wood.

I'm going to get black sand that I think my Cory's will like but what plants low light and that don't need co2 things

i think its called black blasting sand - thats what a lot of AA ppl reccomend

though if u see play sand, watch out. i am having trouble with mine and am not about to recommend it, it takes quite a lot to de-nitrify x

Is pool filter sand a good idea

I would use pool filter sand over blasting sand. Basting sand can be very sharp (depending on what kind you get) and can hurt your cories. That being said some have used it with them, no issues. Wouldn't risk it myself.
