55 G Filter Question

so i am in the process of buying a filter for my 55 gallon tank. the tank is going to be a planted community tank with eco complete substrate, driftwood, and rocks.

now my question is which filtering method should i go with?

1.) AC 110 HOB
2.) Fluval 305 Cannister
3.) AC 50 + Fluval 205 Canister
4.) reccomend something else and why

I would get a fluval 404 off of ebay personally for the money($85 shipped), I just setup a 55G with a 304 and was orig going to have a 40G tank so I would go with the 404.

I agree with Speed. I think that anything over 29G would benefit better from a canister filter instead of a HOB.

I can't answer your question regarding Eheim but I can tell you that I have been very happy with my Filstar canister filter. I just got my second one.

I second the Filstar. I run 4 or 5 of them. I'd use an XP3 on a 55gal.

I would go with the Eheim 2026 kit.

The XP's are nice as well.
