So this will be my first LARGE aquarium, a 55 gallon. I've kept half a dozen 5, 10, and 20 Gs before. I'm slowly piecing it together from various stores and online and should be able to start filling it by the end of this week.

Specs:

Aquaclear 110 Filter
200W Eheim Jager heater
60 gallon aerator.
Silk plants.

My plan for it is to have several small schools of different and simple community fish.

One example:
White clouds,
Neons,
Rasboras,
corys,
danios,
Barbs,
Maybe some otos after the tank is cycled and established,
and a bunch of shrimp

Not the final plan, still not 100% what I want in there so far.

Anyone have any advice/different suggestions?

I would probably try to keep the number of schools down to 1 or 2 species, plus the corys. More schools than that may be too busy for the eyes to follow. You could either increase your school size, or have 2 schools of 8-10 fish each, plus a couple larger fish as "center piece" fish. Just my opinion, of course. Others may have better advice.
Also, white clouds prefer cool water, danios only slightly warmer, while the others prefer tropical water temps. They won't all mix well in the same tank.
Nice looking tank, though. I like how you divided the substrate.
