Advice needed

I found a nice log that i want in my tank, but im not sure if its safe, how can i clean it before putting it in? Should i soak it, or just rinse it?

First you should find out what kind of wood it is and then boil it a few times and soak it in new water for a few days

The main one I wouldn't use is pine. If the wood is soft I wouldn't use it at all.
