Chinese algae eaters are awful aggressive fish that have a habit of sucking the eyes off of other fish. I would never recommend them. They also get to he 11 inches.

Oto cats are good but really need to be kept in a school of 4+.

I thought the CAE were the same as otto cats...any how correction, forget the chineese and go with ottos is what I meant.

I d recommend these little guys. It s called a 'Fishnet/Reticulated Flying Fox' Crossocheilus reticulatus
I have 3 in a 50g, they are peaceful, active & very serious about eating algae. When they turn into the light, they re a brilliant silver color. Really like them! Like Oto s too tho, best to put them into an established (6mos old) tank. Good luck, battling algae myself right now:(.

How long has the tank been set up? Is the lighting your using a blue light that makes glo fish glow? Using that lighting, if that is what you have can attribute to your algae issues. A picture of the algae would be very helpful.
