Getting ready to put together our 29G tank. We had to tank it down due to loosing all the fish. Have cleaned up everything. Going to purchase a new filter. Would an Aquaclear 70 be sufficient or should I go for the 110? Planing on a community tank with mollies, platy's, swordtails, and danios. Thanks

Check out Convict's tank here on AA. He upgraded from an AC to the Fluval C4 and loved it...

I run an AC 110 and couldn't be happier. A 70 would be more than enough for a 29

Hello hyper...

If you perform weekly water changes, you don't need a lot of extra filtration. A Hagen AC 50 is plenty. It has a gallon per hour (gph) rating of 200. This is more than sufficient to aerate your tank and at about $35.00, is much less than the 70 or 110. The minimum gph for a 30 G tank is 120.

Don't rely on heavy filtration to keep the water pure, only large, frequent water changes can do this. Keep the water pure and the filter is just moving water that's already clean.
