I have a 55 gallon aquarium measuring 48" x 13" x 20". It is a freshwater fish-only tank. I recently purchased an LED light fixture and was shocked at how little light it produced so I returned it. Can anyone recommend a good non-LED light fixture that would be ideal for my aquarium? I have a 12 inch long pleco, an albino cory catfish, and an assortment of swordtails, mollies, and platies. Thanks!

on of those fish need bright light and a t 8 shop light would work ok
you did not say id you had plants in the tank
metal halide will produce the most light ( and heat)
a T 5 light works great with most plants

I have heard a lot of good things about the Flora Sun Lights and I will get some more info on the metal halide lights. Thanks for the suggestions. This has been a great help!

What kind of led? There are some great, powerful leds out there for short money..if you're not growing plants an dual t8 shop light would be fine..
