Bristle Nose Pleco

I'm still kinda thinking on the 55g stocking plan. I'll have (as some may know) :

1 JD
4-6 Giant danios
1 Lesser spiny eel
_ Bristle nose pleco(s)

So. How many plecs?

Do you want them to breed? If you do, get one male and 2 females and a cave for them to hide in. You will have babies before you know it. I have a breeding trio in my 55 gal and have successfully spawned and raised literally hundreds of the little guys.

I don't really want to breed them. I don't know how well that would work with a jack dempsey.

Well if you don't want to breed them just leave the babies in there and the jack will eat the babies. 3 in a 55 gal would work no problem.

If you do end up wanting to breed them you can remove them when they become free swimming and they will survive.

I might breed them. I always have an extra fry tank just in case someone decides to have babies. So 3 would work even with the stock in there?

Yes as long as you have caves for them. Jacks can be nasty as I am sure you know, the pleco's will need places to hide.
