I have a new 55 gallon tank that has been cycling for about 2 weeks now (with fish). I plan on having it become an African cichlid tank and want to add them at the beginning of March (another 2 weeks).

I have been trying to do as much research on africans as I can but it is just so confusing. I figured I would turn to those who are familiar on this forum.
Any suggestions on species I should look into. I want to have as much fish as possible, so I am okay with the smaller species (I also have a canister filter that is for up to 150 gal tanks). I really like blues and yellows, but a nice mixture of colors would be real nice. To have them breed would be pretty cool, but not a requirement.
I am going to peruse the local stores I know of this weekend to see what they have to start planning (any store suggestions in north chicagoland?).
