Ok now I've got a winter project :) yay!
Ok I will post all my pictures at the end of the post

So I plan on buying some 3/8's inch acrylic I read online with patience it's easy enough to cut... And relatively easy to get... I want to gut this xbox(see picture) and put a tank inside with slide top (see "other" picture) because the. Box has a groove that I can cut and mount to the top to slide in an out (see another picture)

I want to put 1-2 snails and 2-4 shimp... Well maybe just 2 hehe

This sounds easy enough you know "no heater needed, I'll do pwc so no filter really needed, but then it hit me with this kind o tank how do I light it? Maybe lights in the corners? I don't know I need help with that... Because I want to view it from the top ... But then maybe I should do the side cut out to view from there and just some of the top cut out still thinking bout it well open to suggestions!!!

Also how hard is it to seal acrylic for such a small tank? Shouldn't be bad right?

Well hope for some help on this :)

Till later josh

I would of thought you would need a filter, just because you do pwc doesn't mean you don't need a filter. And you need to find out your room temperature.

Get some internal spot lights or led strips, if your not going to filter the water you should find a small power head to keep particles suspended in the water column for longer so they can be removed with vac and pwc

I have a mini pore head that would basiccly make a nave current going in a circle? That good? And does anyone have experience cutting/glueing acrylic?

cutting acrylic can be pretty easy but the width matters a lot.

Something thinner like 1/8 inch can be basically scored with a blade and "snapped" Think repeated scoring with the blade along the cut line. Place on something like a table or counter with your cut line on the edge. Have someone hold down a 2x4 on top and then basically take the hangover unwanted edge and slam down on it. It's a 2 man operation and I would def do a few practice runs to be sure.

Is it's thicker than that won't work but if you get the right thickness you can actually use a saw and cut it. Something like a Reciprocating saw would probably do I think. I can't remember the exact type I read about. Google gives lots of suggestions though

Well with such a small tank I don't need thick at all right? 1/8 inch will work awesome And should I use the water like welding stuff (weld on 4 I think) or the stuff equivalent to silicone for glass but for acrylic...( something sixteen ) which one should I use?but how do I make the edges ready with such thin stuff? Should I sand it with REALLY FINE paper or use the backside of a hacksaw blade and SLOWLY shave it

Ok I was working on viewablility of the tank from sides and front front has thrown me a screwball I came up with a solution though picture 1 is what I want to do for front the second is some other front drawing and the third is side view

If you have a Tap Plastics they can cut & sell you the acrylic. They use a table saw. Also they sell IPS Weld On #16 acrylic glue. Both the liquid (roll on type) and the liquid gel type. Make sure you let it cure and outages couple weeks tho.
