I got my new heater today for my 5.5 gal betta tank 25 watt. I am nervous setting up something digital . It says to push on the top button until you reach desired temp. Is that all? But it says to put it in a place where there is good aeration for even temp is that close to NY filter? And with my betta my flow isn't hard so she is not tossed around . My current api heater us on the same side as my filter but not close to water flow and some algae has accumulated on the suction cups. The paper said to put it where it is algae free. My tank doesnt get much so I am good there. Please advise.

Stop worrying soo much, its not rocket science ;)

1 - it says to stick it where its algae free because it wont stick properly otherwise.

2 - Next to the filter intake is generally the best place for a heater. The water will get spread around the tank nicely.

3 - if thats what the directions say, then go for it. I make a habit of not setting up a heater on a tank unless im going to be there for at least 8 hours or so just in case.
