I have a fluval 105 canister filter that is brand new. I'm going to use it on my 10 gallon tank, that will be planted. Can I cycle it by just putting it on my established 20 gallon?

Just get whatever media you have for the 105 and let it sit in the 20 gallon for about a week so BB attaches itself. You don't have to actually run the filter on the other tank

Ok. Should I put it in pantyhose and let it sit in the gravel or something?

Might just be easier to run the filter on the tank. A week won't do much to seed it though, I'd do at least two, preferably 3-4.
