Cycling a tank with an old one

Hi

I have got a new fish tank and i was stupid and filled it up with some RO water.
Now i have put every thing in my tank and my filter in an old tank that's has been cycled.

So to get the point how long should i leave the filter in there, Because i put every thing in the new tank, do you think a week is okay.

i have put the filter in the already cycled tank to get some of the good bacteria on the new filter.i am wondering how long i should keep the filter in there to get a good colony of bacteria.

Usually it takes two to four weeks to get a seeded colony of bacteria.
