I got this tank for Christmas here is how it looks so far.
It has sand bottom, fluval 306 canister filter, and Odyssea 48" t5ho 3 bulb 54 watt each. The second picture also includes my current tank which is hideous because of a recent hood malfunction and some homemade lighting.

Edit* what grade is my lighting. High med or low?

The light makes a very faint buzz. No louder than the filter and if your head isn't beside it, you won't notice it.

What about when the lights are off can you hear anything at all?
I'm sorry for posting this questions here, but hopefully someone else will answer your question; However, I believe you have med/moderate light ~2.7 WPG
For simplicity I always go with the 1 WPG = low, 2 WPG = med, and 3 WPG = high

When the lights are off you can faintly hear the canister running.

Here is how the tank looks todau

Looks great! One thing I hated about the 06 series from the 05 series fluval is they went from a dark colored intake tube to the clear and white.

Wow that background makes it look really cool, is that a school of tiger barbs?

I have a 306 and I don't like that either, but I've seen them in planted tanks without a background and sand and they actually look pretty decent.

Yes, there are 6 tiger barbs right now, I plan on adding 3 every week until there is about 15-20.
