Drift wood from the beach put into FW tank?

I want to know if I could collect a few pieces of driftwood off the beach rinse them and let soak for a few days, would it be safe to put into my freshwater tank?

I suggest boiling the wood to remove the tannins and salt

Yeah that's fine..some woods are better than others. And i am assuming an ocean beach? Just make sure you soak in hot water and clean them off good.

Just be sure they are a hard wood, because soft wood will decay and foul your water
