Hello,

I am thinking about getting JBL 1501e external filter for my 50g tank. I am also wondering about getting pre-filter SUNSUN HW-603. So the question is, if I connect both of them, will my flow will decrease or will it remain the same?

So what I'm understanding is you want to hook them both in line to pull water through the pre filter and push it back up into the tank? Imho, too much risk for something to go wrong.

The best thing about canister filters is that they hold tons of room for filter media. There's really no reason to over complicate your filter to add a little more. Just stick with the canister you want and arrange your media trays to filter how you want.

Agreed.

In a canister filter you can have the prefiltering sponge layers as the first thing the water hits. This polishes the water. Then it flows through the remaining layers which contain your bio media.

You don't really need a seperate pre filter unit.
